Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings🧅

These WW friendly onion rings have a crispy crunchy breading. They make a perfect WW appetizer or side!

How to Make This:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large Sweet onion

  • 1⁄2 cup Plain unsweetened almond milk

  • 1⁄2 Tbsp lemon juice(or vinegar), to make buttermilk

  • 1 large Egg

  • 1 tsp Hot sauce

  • 1⁄2 cup All-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1⁄2 tsp Smoked paprika

  • 1⁄2 tsp Granulated garlic

  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs

  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together milk and lemon juice. Let sit at least 5 minutes.

  2. In a shallow bowl, Add flour, granulated garlic, paprika, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

  3. Once milk has sat for at least 5 minutes, pour in another shallow bow and add in egg and hot sauce and whisk. Then add in 1/3 cup of the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.

  4. In a third bowl, add Panko bread crumbs.

  5. Trim ends from onion and remove the outer peel.

  6. Cut onion into rings about ½-inch thick. Separate into rings.

  7. Dip onion rings, one at a time in the flour mixture, followed by the egg/milk/flour mixture, and finally dipping in the panko bread crumbs.

  8. Repeat this process with the remaining onion rings.

  9. Preheat air fryer to 385°F for at least 3 minutes.

  10. Spritz air fryer tray with olive oil and add onion rings in a single layer.

  11. Spritz rings with olive oil.

  12. Cook for 7-9 minutes, flipping rings halfway through.

  13. Repeat this step with remaining onion rings.

  14. If you want to keep onion rings warm between batches, you can place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet in the oven at 200°F.

  15. Oven instructions: Lay coated rings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spritz with olive oil and bake for 15 minutes. Flip and bake until crispy, an additional 10 minutes or so more.

  16. Enjoy!
